Woom Bikes in Bristol

woom is a German-designed brand built around one simple idea: a bike sized and weighted properly for a child is a bike a child can actually control. Most kids' bikes from supermarkets and toy shops are heavy - a cheap 16in bike can weigh more than 11kg, which is a huge amount for a four year old to push, balance and lift. A woom GO 3 at the same wheel size weighs around 5.4kg. When the bike weighs less, your child does the steering instead of fighting the weight, and that is what makes learning quick and stress-free.

Ultralight frames

Purpose-built aluminium frames keep weight down so children can handle the bike themselves, from first balance bike to full-size 26in wheels.

Child-specific geometry

Low standover, a back-swept riding position and child-sized brake levers mean small hands and short legs are always in control.

Built to last and hold value

woom offers a 10-year warranty on frames and forks (once registered), and used woom bikes hold their value strongly when your child grows on.

Wheel size is the key to getting a woom right. Age is a useful starting point, but the real test is your child's height and inside leg, because a bike that is too big is hard to control and knocks confidence. Here is the quick guide:

• 7in to 12in (woom WOW and GO 1): balance bikes for toddlers just finding their feet, no pedals, feet-down and go.
• 14in (woom GO 1 PLUS and GO 2): the transition from balance to first pedals, usually around age 3 to 4.
• 16in (woom GO 3): the classic first proper pedal bike, brakes and gears, roughly age 4 to 6.
• 20in (woom GO 4, EXPLORE 4, OFF 4): confident young riders heading out on longer family rides.
• 24in and 26in (EXPLORE and OFF 5 and 6): older kids and teens who want a proper geared bike for road, trail or both.

Not sure where your child sits? That is exactly what we are here for. Bring them into either shop, we will measure them against the bikes, talk through how and where they will ride, and make an honest recommendation. No pressure, and no selling you more bike than they need.

A woom is built to be handed down, so it pays to keep it in good order. Our workshop looks after woom bikes at every stage, from a first safety check and gear set-up on a new bike to a full service before it passes to a younger sibling. We can fit accessories, adjust the fit as your child grows, and sort any warranty questions with woom on your behalf.
