Ridgeback has been making sensible, well-built bikes in Britain for over forty years, and it is a brand we are happy to put our name behind. They are best known for two things: genuinely good kids' bikes that are light enough for children to actually ride, and practical, comfortable hybrids that make everyday cycling easy. We stock and support the full range across our two Bristol shops in Long Ashton and Southville, so you can see the bikes in person, get sized up properly, and take one home ready to ride.
Whether you are after a first balance bike, a proper pedal bike your child can grow with, or a dependable hybrid for the commute, there is a Ridgeback for the job, and honest advice from us to help you choose.
Ridgeback sits in a lovely spot: better made and better thought-out than supermarket bikes, without the premium price of some boutique brands. For a lot of families and commuters, it is exactly the right bike.
Ridgeback kids' bikes are lighter, better geared and better braked than the heavy bikes you find in supermarkets, so children can control them, learn faster and enjoy riding.
The hybrids are comfortable, upright and practical, with mounts for mudguards and racks. Ideal for commuting, the school run, or gentle weekend miles.
Four decades of building dependable bikes at sensible prices. Ridgeback bikes hold up well, hold their value, and are easy to keep running for years.
Here is what we currently stock, grouped by wheel size for the kids' bikes and by type for the adult bikes. For children, wheel size matters more than age, so use it as your guide. Prices shown are the RRP a model starts from, and colours and sizes vary. Tap a group to see the line-up.
Prices are the RRP each model starts from and are a guide only, exact price depends on the size, colour and model year. Kids' bikes are sized by wheel diameter, and most come in a choice of colours. If your size or colour is not in stock, we can order it in, get in touch.
For a child, wheel size is the thing to get right, not age. A bike that is too big is hard to control and knocks a child's confidence. As a rough guide:
For grown-ups, it comes down to the ride: the Comet and Motion are easy, comfortable hybrids for commuting and leisure, the Velocity is quicker for covering ground, and the electric Errand takes the effort out of hills and headwinds. Not sure? Bring the whole family in and we will measure everyone up and make an honest recommendation.
Every bike we sell is fully built, safety-checked and adjusted before it leaves the shop, not flat-packed for you to assemble at home. After that our workshop is here for the life of the bike, from a first free check and gear set-up to full services, and adjusting a kids' bike as your child grows. We can also sort any warranty questions with Ridgeback on your behalf.

Bring them into either shop and we will size them on the actual bikes in a couple of minutes.
